4.2. Learning tasks
This is a 6 ECTS course organized as follows:
- Lectures.
- Practice sessions.
- Autonomous work and study.
- Assessment tasks.
4.3. Syllabus
This course will address the following topics:
Section 1. Western philosophy domains
- Why is philosophy an expression of western culture. Hegel and universal history.
- The greek world: greeks and and the others.
- The western desire of the East in modern Europe (from Schopenhauer to Foucault).
Section 2. Approaches to Eastern philosophy and its problems
- Eastern philosophy. Its concept and its history.
- Main references and philosophical problems:
- Confucianism. Philosophical problem: moral foundation.
- Taoism. Philosophical problem: being and becoming.
- Hinduism. Philosophical problem: the Ego and its illusions.
- Budism. Philosophical problem: suffering.
- Zen. Philosophical problem: zen and postmodern language.
